Flå ålen och skär den i 1 ½ centimeter tjocka skivor. Koka upp lagen och lägg i fisken. Låt sjuda på svag värme minst 1 timma (ja, det är riktigt!). Låt ålen svalna lite och servera den sedan varm med kokt potatis. Kall kokt ål smakar gott tillsammans med skarpsås.
